25 Years of Integrating
Biomedical Knowledge
LifeMap Sciences builds the world's most comprehensive human gene and disease databases — originally developed in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science.
From Academic Innovation to Global Platform
GeneCards was created at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel — one of the world's leading multidisciplinary research institutions. What began as an academic project to organize human gene data has grown into the most widely used human gene database in the world.
Starting in 2003, LifeMap Sciences partnered with the Weizmann Institute to commercialize and expand the GeneCards Knowledgebase. Today, LifeMap Sciences — headquartered in California with R&D in Israel — independently develops and maintains the platform and its suite of analytical tools. Our team of bioinformaticians, data scientists, and software engineers works to integrate, curate, and present biomedical data in ways that accelerate research and discovery.
